Ryan Delaney said that it was time for the Swindon Town squad to stand up and be counted to help them get out of their current predicament.
The Irish defender scored his first goal for the club to get Swindon back to 2-2 following a disastrous start to the game but they failed to kick on as Hallam Hope marked his return to Wiltshire with the winner.
Delaney said that Swindon needed to step up and show their true capabilities to help fight their way out of the relegation scrap they find themselves in.
He said: "We do different shapes in training and so that we know whether we are in a back four or a back three what to do and we are comfortable doing so.
"Obviously we all train together and we are always swapping positions and we all understand each other's games.
"Now it is about putting this game behind us, it is done and it is very disappointing.
"We are all disappointed in there [the dressing room], like the fans are too, we understand that.
"We understand the frustration and as players and staff we want to be the ones to get ourselves out of a situation and give the fans something to shout about.
"We want to give them something back, they have shown up every week for us, even when things haven't been doing well.
"Now it is time for us to step up and give them something to support."
The game was played in difficult conditions as Storm Bert raged in Wiltshire but Delaney was not going to use that as an excuse.
He said: "The conditions were tough but it is no excuse because we have all played in them before, so that can't explain the result.
"Both teams had the same conditions but they played better in them than we did today.
"I think that if we kept pushing for the last 15 minutes then I think it would have broken down.
"There are always times in the game when it goes a little bit flat.
"I think that if we kept doing what we were doing then we would have progressed to go and get the winning goal but we got caught on the counter and that is what cost us today.
"All of us are very disappointed and frustrated as when they scored we were on top in the game and we just needed to see it through."
