The statue of Swindon Town legend Don Rogers has been unveiled outside The Nigel Eady County Ground to commemorate the finest day in the club’s history.
At a ceremony on Friday, November 22 the statue was officially unveiled at the new Statue Park, an area outside the club’s stadium which houses the statue and is planned to host a fan zone in the future.
The unveiling was attended by Rogers himself, along with John Trollope and Joe Butler who were also members of the side who won the League Cup in 1969.

The statue depicts the moment when Rogers scored his second and Town’s third goal during the 3-1 victory over Arsenal at Wembley to win their only major trophy.
Rogers said: “It is a real honour for the team and for me to see it up there, it looks like me as well, which is nice because you never know with statues.
“It is the most important goal that I scored to many and I can remember everything about that goal, it is as clear as anything to me – that will never go away.
“Steve Mytton [former TrustSTFC chairman] has done an absolutely wonderful job over these years, it has been his life really and to finally see it stood there must be great for him. I can’t believe what he has done to make this happen.
“This whole area is going to be really good in years to come with everything that is planned to happen here.”
The project was spearheaded by Mytton during his time with TrustSTFC and the statue was created by Alan Herriot.

Mytton said: “It is a brilliant day, there is plenty of relief too as it has been three years from end-to-end. A special day.
“Don and I have spoken about this for 20 years and right from the start he has always said this is a team achievement.
“It surprised me the amount of work that it took, there were so many phases for it; the supporters backed us and the clear message was ‘Go big and go impressive as you will only do this once.’
“We have put the cherry on top of the cake with this, it is a pretty basic cake at the moment but it should inspire Swindon fans to rally together and decide what they want to do with this space.
“We want this to be a park that Swindon, as a whole, can be proud of.”
