Ahead of Swindon Town’s game against Tottenham Hotspur U21s, manager Ian Holloway is looking forward to seeing what other players can bring to the squad.

The Robins only need a draw to seal their spot in the knockout round, which would be a first since the 2021/2022 season under Ben Garner.

Town are currently 2nd in the group and are in a good position to progress.

Having taken charge of the one game, Holloway believes it is a good opportunity to view other members of his squad.

“There will be as many changes that I can make legally, in this new competition, which luckily my staff are au fait with and I’m not.

“We haven’t broken the rules but I need to see as many as I can, as early as I can, to see their strengths and see what they do for me.

“Then formulate what I might have to do to win some league matches.

“I’m looking forward to seeing some of the other lads play and seeing their take on what I’ve been saying.”

Grant Hall was sent off just nine minutes in against Gillingham in late October for a late tackle on Timothee Dieng and was punished with a three-match suspension.

Despite being amid the ban, the defender is not suspended for the Bristol Street Motors game and will make an appearance.

“To my surprise, he’s not suspended in this competition, which is good because he needs some minutes.

We probably played him too early [against Gillingham], I think that led to him lashing out

“It was definitely a red card, so hopefully he can start tomorrow and stay on for more than nine minutes, that’ll be nice.”

Norwich loanee Daniel Barden then took the starting spot between the sticks, but despite not appearing in a few games, Holloway has been impressed with his attitude and quality in training and is excited to see what he can produce when he starts again.

“I can’t wait to see what Dan does because I’ve seen him in training, I’ve had to applaud him.

“I can’t wait to see Dan tomorrow you know, but as I say, I’m asking my team to look like a team that I want, he added.”

It was an impressive victory in the FA Youth Cup as Town overcame the challenge of Newport County and man of the match Owen Foye claimed that he’s done his part to ‘impress’ the coaches.

The former Crystal Palace boss continued with the discussion on his team selection and claimed that some of the younger players are in the frame for the game, but whether they’ll start is still in question.

“I’m picking a strong team with a couple of the young ones involved, maybe on the bench and maybe starting but I won’t say that yet.”
