Mark Kennedy believes Swindon are ‘too quick to criticise themselves’ when it comes to mastering form at home.

It’s been a tough start for Town at the County Ground this season, picking up just four points from five games, which places them 22nd in the home league table with Morecambe and Carlisle behind them.

The Robins boss broke down the performances in games they haven’t won and suggested that Swindon should have picked up more points at home.

“Look, I thought we were outstanding against Notts County, and I think [their xG] was 0.28, they should never win the game or get a draw.

“I thought Walsall was our poorest performance by a mile and I thought Walsall thoroughly deserved to win and Matt’s team deserved to walk away with three points.”

After two consecutive losses at home, Town got their first win of the season with a 4-0 win over Newport County with the aim to turn the form around but it didn't happen.

Carlisle United were the next side to visit the County Ground under new manager Mike Williamson and they beat Swindon 2-0.

But despite the result, Kennedy was confused with how his side did not win that game.

He reflected: “I don’t know how we didn’t beat Carlisle. I think different games, different things and I think there’s a huge amount of respect being charmed to a team and performances that teams come and play like that here.

“Obviously away from home, it’s on the team. Harrogate can’t play against a team at home and defend for their lives.”

Moving on from the defeat against Carlisle, the Irishman discussed the most recent home game in the league, a 0-0 draw against Harrogate.

He praised Simon Weaver’s side with how they set-up tactically as they came into the clash just after a 5-1 loss to MK Dons.

“I thought tactically, Simon was excellent against us, very very good and made it really difficult and huge credit to him, especially off the back of losing to MK Dons.

“I think sometimes we are too quick to criticise ourselves without giving other people credit and I thought tactically on the day, Simon did an amazing job for his team.

“But we have to find a way or a different way [to score more goals and improve the home form].”
