Joel McGregor said that he thought Swindon Town showed more of what they can do during the second half of their 1-1 draw at Tranmere Rovers.

Having started on the bench, a first-half injury to Jeff King saw McGregor thrust into action early on and he caused no end of problems down the right as Town came from behind to earn a point.

The 18-year-old said that he felt Swindon demonstrated what they were capable of in the second half as they levelled the game and came close to finding the winner.

He said: “I think that it is a good point away from home with the fans helping us with that, I felt that we played some good football and played our football in the second half but couldn’t quite find the final bit to get three points.

“Our confidence in the way we can play [helped us in the second half] I felt like we started well in the first and the goal took a dip in our momentum.

“To get some positive words from the coaching staff and the manager pushed us on to work hard and do well in the second half.

“I feel like we are starting to really play our football, especially in the second half and hopefully we can build on that going into Saturday at home.”

Having been involved with the first team but not making an appearance before Saturday, McGregor has come off the bench in the last two and demonstrated his quality.

He said: “It has definitely been a good challenge for me [breaking into the team], we have a great squad this year with lots of talented players in multiple positions.

“I feel like if I work as hard as I can in training day in and day out then I can get my chance.

“Football is half about luck and I was fortunate to get my chance today and I feel like I played well.

“I feel like I played my game, there were a few times where I could have had a bit more end product but that will come with more game sharpness, so if I get another opportunity than I can keep working on my performances.

“I feel like I have a lot of trust from the manager, which I really appreciate from him, and I am just going to look to build on that in training and my performances in the future.”
