New Carlisle United head coach Mike Williamson says that he expects his playing philosophy to take time ahead of playing Swindon Town this weekend.

The former Milton Keynes Manager swapped League Two clubs on Thursday to join the Blues just two days before they visit the Nigel Eady County Ground.

He was asked in his opening interview what he expected to be able to get into his new squad in such a short space of time and he said he didn’t expect it to be a quick process.

Speaking to club media, he said: “For us, it is just coming in and trying to affect change now, our whole focus is on what we can achieve today in training and get the smiles and chemistry going.

“We have got a really tough game on Saturday and we know how relentless League Two is.

“The relationship [with the players] is going to take time, we have got certain methods that we want to employ and the lads will get to know us.

“It is going to be coming in and assessing things, the guys who have been taking things have done a really good job and we have been chatting with them.

“It will be a joint effort this week and then things will take shape next week.”

Williamson was appointed whilst Swindon were preparing for the game and Kennedy was asked in his pre-match press conference about what he expected from the former Newcastle United defender.

He said: “In two days? It is impossible [to get your ideas across].

“We are really starting to see some evidence of who we are becoming and we have been in since June.

“I have said multiple times that if Clem [Morfuni] had offered me a job for ten games, I wouldn’t have taken it, you need time.

“Everybody needs time to come in, create your DNA, build your brand, and it takes a long time to do it.

“Pep Guardiola is a generational genius and he went to [Manchester] City and in his first year, he didn’t win the league. It takes time.

“I am guessing that Carlisle have identified someone with a particular style and brand that they identify with themselves.

“I think that Mike has had an outstanding journey so far and I think Carlisle have got an outstanding coach, so good luck to them but can he come in and reinvent the wheel in two days? I don’t think anybody can do that.”
