A luxury estate in Wiltshire is excited to be hosting its annual triathlon for its 10th year – combining stunning scenery, a welcoming event experience, and a perfect family day out.
The Bowood House Triathlon, held in the grounds of Bowood House and Gardens, is set to take place on Saturday, June 24 as it celebrates its decade year.
The all-inclusive race is open to both adults and children aged 15 and over, and is suitable for all abilities with both a sprint or super sprint distance to choose from, as well as a duathlon for those who favour running over swimming.
Giles Hancock, director of Bowood House Triathlon, said: "Whether you're a seasoned triathlete or just starting out, the Bowood Triathlon has six different events and age-grade races to choose from. We're thrilled to be celebrating our 10th year and returning to this stunning estate for a day of fun, fitness and adventure.”
Usually closed to the public for swimming, the course starts with a beginner-friendly, open water swim in Bowood lake, followed by a scenic bike course along closed roads.
To finish off, the undulating run route takes in the beautiful scenery around the grounds of Bowood House including the arboretum, the cascade, Hermit's Cave, and the historic Doric temple.
Joe Morse, a personal trainer from Bowood's gym, is participating in the duathlon as his inaugural endurance event, to demonstrate to his clients the rewards of hard work and perseverance.
Joe is also raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society, adding an extra dimension to his achievement, and his colleagues at the hotel will contribute to the charitable cause via a sweepstake to guess his finishing time.
As well as the sporting event, the day is perfect for families with plenty for children to enjoy, such as the Adventure Playground which boasts a life-sized pirate ship, aerial rope walks, giant slides and the famous Space Dive.
There is also an indoor Soft Play Palace for younger children and the parkland provides ample space for games and picnics, making it the perfect location for children to burn off energy.
To experience the full array of activities and explore the expansive estate, visitors can enjoy a stay at the Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort.
