MARLBOROUGH Rugby Club is launching a women’s team ahead of the upcoming 2021-22 season.

Women’s rugby is the fastest growing team sport in the world and the club has already been actively involved in the growth of girls’ rugby at St John’s School.

Marlborough say the new side will “cater for seniors, juniors and minis and will be fully integrated with existing aspects of the club.”

The women’s team will launch in time for the new season and is intended to host open days and rugby taster camps before then to encourage involvement.

Marlborough is already home to successful female (and male) sevens’ teams – the Marlborough Compeed Nomads 7s – who play in tournaments around the globe.

The teams contain international-standard players, some of whom have promised to assist in the development of the women’s section.

Marlborough is looking to attract committed, enthusiastic players who would like to be part of this new chapter in the club’s already illustrious history.

Anyone interested in assisting in the development or playing in the women’s team should contact womensrugby@mrfc.co.uk.
