MELKSHAM edged ever closer to the top of the table after a bonus-point win over Wiltshire rivals Calne on Saturday.
Chris Chudleigh’s side won 22-5 at Oakfields to record their seventh successive victory in Dorset & Wilts One North and move up to second.
Melksham now trail leaders Avonvale by just seven points thanks to their last-minute try at the weekend, though the Wiltshire side has a game in hand.
Elsewhere, Bradford-on-Avon missed out on a second win of the season after going down 34-19 at home to Chippenham II.
Warminster were involved in one of the shocks of the weekend after being completely dominated by mid-table Frome II - the fourth-placed team lost 67-12.
However, Minety and Sutton Benger were successful in picking up wins.
Minety produced a sensational 30-21 victory away from home against Royal Wootton Bassett II while Sutton Benger squeezed past Marlborough II 30-24 to continue their hunt for a top-four finish.
