MELKSHAM Town will enter their Boxing Day clash at home to Frome Town in Southern League Division One South with an added spring in their step after Saturday’s trip to Willand Rovers was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
Willand made a swift decision to postpone Saturday’s game falling heavy rainfall in the build-up to the match to avoid any unnecessary travel on the Saturday before Christmas.
The postponement means Melksham have been without a game in nine days ahead of Frome’s visit, so will have had plenty of rest.
Despite this, Richard Fey’s men will enter the game with confidence at a seasonal high given that they have not tasted defeat in a league match since October 21.
Recently, the InfiLED Arena team has chalked up consecutive wins against Bideford, Mangotsfield United and Barnstaple Town to promote themselves to 12th in the division with 20 points secured from 16 games.
Frome, meanwhile, will be hoping to add to their superb run of form.
Former Bradford Town chief Danny Greaves has guided the Somerset side to 12 wins from their first 18 fixtures, drawing five and losing once.
The record sees Frome sit top of the table at Christmas, with just 13 points dropped.
The Boxing Day battle at the InfiLED Arena kicks off at the earlier time of 1pm.
Following Melksham’s post-Christmas contest, Fey’s squad are without a game on Saturday but they travel to Paulton Rovers on New Year’s Day.
