CORSHAM’S hopes of lifting the Dorset & Wiltshire Intermediate Cup came up short as they were beaten by Swindon in Saturday’s final.
The Lacock Road side fell to a 64-26 defeat at the hands of their Southern Counties South rivals at the artificial pitch at Chippenham RFC’s Allington Fields ground.
The game was the pick of the weekend’s rugby action, with the majority of league programmes taking a week’s hiatus.
Marlborough had been due to travel to Old Patesians in South West One East, only for that game to be postponed owing to a waterlogged pitch.
The contest has been rescheduled for January 25.
A full programme of league fixtures resumes this weekend.
