CUMBERWELL Park player Joe Retford has been crowned West of England U18 champion following a sensational performance last week.
On a challenging par-71 course in windy conditions at Burnham & Burrow Golf Club in Bournemouth, a total of 78 of the best young golfers in the region competed over 54 holes in an effort to land the silverware.
A talented field were assembled, with highest handicapper playing off eight and the lowest at two, with the majority of players between three and five.
Retford, who plays out of Bradford on Avon club Cumberwell, shot rounds of gross 72 and 73 before a superb 66 in the final round for a total of 211 to take victory by a single stroke.
Tom Scullion was the next best Wiltshire player in 16th with 223, James Black was not far behind on 225 for 23rd, while Max Wrixon finished 32nd with 231.
