CLARRIE Dunbar have made the perfect start to the new indoor season in national team championships and competitions.
They are unbeaten in the four main events – ladies’ Yetton Trophy and men’s Denny Cup, plus the two mixed competitions for the Egham Trophy and Top Club.
Last weekend, Clarrie notched a comfortable second round 84-45 victory over a Clevedon in the Egham Trophy, with two rinks at home and two rinks away.
They now face Chippenham-based North Wilts on November 11.
This weekend will see Clarrie trying to extend their unbeaten record in the Yetton Trophy and Denny Cup when they meet Purnell (Paulton) and Bristol respectively in round two ties on Saturday.
In the ladies’ Yetton Trophy, Clarrie were in fine form in the opening round defeating Clevedon 97-69.
Equally impressive were the men’s team with a comprehensive 75-36 victory over MidGlos (Brockworth, Gloucester) in the Denny Cup.
Clarrie have two sides entered in the men’s over 60 double rinks competition and begin their campaigns this season on November 6, one rink home and one rink away.
The A side face North Wilts while the B team will play Purnell.
Clarrie, who won the Central Region of the Wessex League last season, open the new campaign on Sunday when they face Chippenham-based North Wilts.
- A SOMERSET men’s side fielding half a dozen players from Clarrie Dunbar were beaten in the inter-county championship for the Liberty Trophy.
They lost their opening round tie to Dorset 136-107 away at Dolphin IBC (Poole).
