A PRESENTATION evening was held on Wednesday night to celebrate the conclusion of the 52nd Chippenham Sunday Football League campaign.

Awards including Fair Play Charts, Golden Boot, Divisional Winners and Player of the Season were handed out at the Gladstone Club as £2,250 was awarded by sponsors Shoestrings and the Gazette & Herald.

In total, 37 clubs received a cash boost, but it was Calne BFC who pocketed the most after topping the fair play charts.

Martin and Yvonne Webb, from sponsors Shoestrings Chargrill, opened the night by making presentations to the divisional winners and runners up before Bromham’s Ryan Bole – who scored 26 league goals – collected his Gazette & Herald sponsored Golden Boot award.

Calne BFC, who after a number of years in the league have decided to call it a day, were then presented with their fair play award after receiving an average mark of 8.79 from both referees and fellow clubs.

Along with the £100 for winning their respective division, they collected a further bonus of £150 as overall winners - taking their bounty for the evening to a healthy £250.

Other divisional winners claimed £100 apiece - Semington topped Division One, Box Rovers headed Division One, and Kingfisher took the honours in Division Three.

Meanwhile Calne United claimed the Top Club Assistant Referee of the Season award.

Pheasant claimed the Premier Division honour and FC North Wiltshire finished top of the pile in Division One while Kingfisher scooped the Division Three award.

All clubs mentioned picked up a trophy along with £30 for their efforts, with Calne claiming an additional £50.

Sam Gooding scooped the top Senior Referee award for a second successive season.

Gooding, 40, has been officiating for six years on various local leagues and won the best Junior Referee award in 2014/15.

Chippenham-based official Laura Morgan landed the Junior Referee award after becoming the first female to officiate the Knockout Cup final in its 51st year.

Along with their trophies, both officials were handed a cheque for £50 which was presented by Martin & Yvonne Webb.

Gazette & Herald and Wiltshire Times sports editor Owen Houlihan presented awards for the Golden Boot (Ryan Bole, Bromham) and the other divisional top scorers, including James Dark, Rich Allum and Sean Horobin.

Matthew Poole also took top honours when presented with the Player of the Year award having overcome challenge personal issues throughout Old Road’s the campaign.

From 16 league appearances, Poole scored 21 goals and received eight Player of the Match nominations.

Poole received his award, a certificate and £100 worth of sports vouchers, while there was also a presentation for Best Secretary, which went to Calne BFC’s Bev Tyler.
