SEMINGTON kept their hopes of lifting the Division One title alive on Thursday night, although they didn’t have everything their own way as they had to overturn a half-time deficit away at Bath Road before claiming a 3-1 success.
Bath Road had the better of the first half and deservedly led 1-0 through a Ryan Armstrong goal, but Semington were much improved in the second half and drew level via Dean Shaw.
Shaw then put Semington 2-1 up and a stunning 35-yard volley from Rich Allum wrapped up the three points.
Semington face leaders FC North Wiltshire on Sunday in what is a massive game for both teams. Should North Wilts win, the title will be theirs, but if Semington claim the victory, they could clinch the title if they beat Bath Road in the return clash next Tuesday evening.
Division Two
TROWBRIDGE-BASED Faded FC gave their all at home to champions Box Rovers as they hunted a victory which would have put them in pole position for the runners-up spot, however, they suffered a 2-0 defeat which means that should they avoid defeat against North Star Club this coming Sunday, they finish for as bridesmaids to Box for a second successive season.
Faded thought they had taken a first-half lead through Kieran Palmer, but his effort was ruled out for offside, and although they went close to taking a second-half lead it was Box who broke the deadlock with a well-worked goal by Liam Shipman.
Shipman was on hand to fire home his and Box’s second of the night to seal a fourth straight victory for the villagers over Faded.
