DEVIZES’ Paul Brown took top honours in the Trowbridge Seniors match fished at Leech Pool.
He had a carp and skimmers catch of 18lb 0oz to beat Barry Oakford, from Trowbridge, into runner-up spot with a carp and skimmers catch of 15lb 0oz. Melksham’s Jim Campbell was third prize with a carp and skimmers catch of 12lb 8oz.
Other placings: 4 Tony Brack (Melksham) 12lb 0oz; 5 John Blackmore (Lavington) 9lb 4oz; 6 Dave Briggs (Melksham) 7lb 8oz.
Fish were hard to tempt in the Wilts Angling Open at Crookwood Lake, where Andy Langham, from Devizes, carried off top spot with a tench and skimmers catch of 10lb 4oz.
Chippenham’s Brian Haigh was runner-up with a roach and skimmers catch of 6lb 8oz, with Duncan Smith, from Chippenham, third with a tench and roach catch of 6lb 7oz.
Other placings: 4 Nathaniel Johnson (Melksham) 5lb 12oz; 5 Pete Neate (Holt) 5lb 10oz; 6 Kevin Abigail (Westbury) 5lb 4oz.
The second round of the Sensas Kennet and Avon Teams League was held at Melksham’s water at Kings Arms, Whaddon and Pound Lane.
Winner on the day was Garbolino Blackmore Vale’s Richard Chave from peg D16 at Pound Lane.
Runner-up was Simon Keifer (Drennan Bordon Blue) with Carl Steffan (Drennan Bordon Blue) third.
Other placings: 4 James Carty (Devizes PI Thatchers); 5 Tom Moretti (PI Thatchers); 6 Ian Stainer (Sensas Wiltshire Angling Black).
On the team front, Drennan Bordon Blue won the day with a very impressive 89 points ahead of Garbolino Blackmore Vale Green in second on 72 and Garbolino Blackmore Vale Gold in third on 70.
