COMPETITORS enjoyed mixed sport in the Trowbridge Seniors match fished last Tuesday at Cliveys.
Dave Baker, from Trowbridge, carried off top prize with a carp and roach catch weighing11 lb 4 oz.
Jim Escott, from Melksham, pushed him all the way to finish a close runner-up with an all-rudd catch weighing 11 lb.
Ken Gingell, from Trowbridge, clinched third with 5 lb 4 oz of roach and skimmers.
Other placings: 4 Dickie Bird (Melksham) 4 lb 12 oz; 5 Barry Oakford (Trowbridge) 4 lb 4 oz; 6 Paul Brown (Devizes) 2 lb 12 oz.
FISH proved hard to tempt in the Airsprung Open match fished on Sunday on the Airsprung stretch of the Kennet & Avon Canal.
Brain Haigh, from Chippenham, carried off top prize with a roach and skimmers catch weighing 4 lb 2 oz, while Richard Whitmarsh, from Frome, again framed in runner-up spot with a roach and skimmers catch weighing 2 lb 14 oz.
Mike Marsden, from Westbury, took third with a roach and skimmers catch weighing 2 lb 7 oz.
Other placings: 4 Bill Turner (Trowbridge) 2 lb 1 oz; 5 Dave Morrison (Trowbridge) 1 lb 14 oz; 6 Brian Neale (Frome) 1 lb 8 oz.
SUNDAY’S Wilts Angling Open match at Todber Manor was won by Pete Neate, from Holt, with 127 lb of carp.
Nick Merry, from Shaftesbury, took runner-up spot with carp weighing 83 lb and Dave Bancroft, from Trowbridge, took third prize with a carp catch weighing 63 lb 12 oz.
Other placings: 4 Tim Martin (Frome) 60 lb 12 oz; 5 Ian Willetts (Bradford) 59 lb12 oz; 6 Matt Skyrme (Trowbridge) 50 lb 4 oz.
