SUNDAY’S Wilts Angling Open Silvers Only match at Avalon Fishery was won by Nick Johns, from Trowbridge, with a 14 lb 6 oz catch of bream, skimmers and roach.
Alan Hillier, from Westbury, was runner-up with 8 lb of bream, skimmers and roach. He was followed by Gary Etheridge, from Devizes, with 7 lb 9 oz of skimmers and roach.
Other placings: 4. Pete Neate Holt 7 lb 7 oz; 5. Ian Stainer Trowbridge 7 lb 4 oz; 6. Dave Bancroft Trowbridge and Sean Rhodes Trowbridge 7 lb.
- COMPETITORS found mixed sport in Sunday’s Airsprung Open match on the Bristol Avon at Barton Farm, where in-form Richard Whitmarsh, from Frome, again took the day's top honours with 18 lb 2 oz of bream and roach.
Tom Ince, from Trowbridge, came in second and took the runner-up spot with 8 lb 3 oz of roach and chub as Steve Green, from Trowbridge, was third with 4 lb 6 oz of roach and skimmers.
Other placings: Roger Green Trowbridge 2 lb 3 oz; 5. Brian Neal Frome 2 lb; 6. Dave Morrison Trowbridge 1 lb 14 oz.
- THE River Marden at Hazeland was in good form for Sunday’s Calne Reg Humphries Air Ambulance match, where Nigel Smith, from Calne, carried off top prize on the day with 22 lb 6 oz of chub.
Nigel Reeves, from Bristol, took runner up spot with 13 lb 13 oz of chub.
Martin Doman, from Calne, finished in third with 13 lb of chub.
Other placings: 4. Nick Lofy Calne 10 lb 12 oz; 5. Simon Fear Calne 10 lb; 6. Shane Belcher Calne 5 lb 13 oz.
