MAVER Bathampton Elite may have taken the team honours but Preston Innovation Thatchers clinched the Sensas Commercial House League title in the final match of the series on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Bathampton.
Maver triumphed on the day with 25 points, followed by Preston Black with 19. Stand and Deliver Promotions topped B Division with 19, followed by Cardiff Nomads on 17.5.
There was a tie for individual honours on the day between Colin Dance, of Preston Black, and DW Builders’ Rob Randall, both weighing in at 10 lb 8 oz. Mark Sheppard, of Stand and Deliver, was third with 7 lb 14 oz 8 dm.

Weights were low in Saturday’s Airsprung Open match on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Avoncliffe.
Bradford’s Dean Adams was the exception, taking top prize with a roach and hybrids catch of 12 lb 3 oz. Richard Whitmarsh, from Frome, was runner-up with a roach catch of 2 lb 3 oz, with Trowbridge’s Nick Johns taking third with a roach catch weighing 2 lb 0.
- Other placings: 4 Phil Eggleton (Bradford) 1 lb 12 oz; 5 Phil Stone (Trowbridge) 1 lb 10 oz; 6 Kevin Hatter (Trowbridge) 1 lb 7 oz.
Fish were hard to tempt in the Airsprung match on Sunday on the Bristol Avon at Barton Farm.
Top honours on a low weight day went to Frome’s Richard Whitmarsh with a roach and skimmers catch weighing 7 lb 8 oz. Bill Turner, from Trowbridge, was runner-up with an all bleak catch of 2 lb 6 and Steve Musitano, also from Trowbridge, took third prize with an all-roach catch of 1 lb 4 oz.
- Other placings: 4 Andy Fox (Hilperton )1 lb 0 oz; 5 Dave Morrison (Trowbridge) 14 oz; 6 Michael White (Trowbridge) 12 oz.
Competitors in the Wilts Angling Open match enjoyed good sport on Sunday on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Horton.
Top honours went to Pete Neate, from Holt, with a skimmers and hybrid catch of 12 lb 14 oz. Mick Withy, from Westbury, was runner-up with another skimmers and hybrids catch of 10 lb 4 oz taken, with Chippenham’s Stuart White third with an all-roach catch of 8 lb 14.
