THE Trowbridge Open match fished on Sunday at Blue Circle was one of few matches fished with the rivers again being in flood.
Dave Baker from Trowbridge carried off top prize with a carp catch weighing 82lb 0oz taken on pole fished expander pellets.
Trowbridge’s Jeff Matthews was runner-up with a carp catch weighing 71lb 4oz on feeder fished sweetcorn. Gerald Lugg (Beckington) clinched third with a carp catch weighing 57lb 0oz on feeder fished red maggots.
Other placings: 4 Kevin Grant (Trowbridge) 52lb 4oz; 5 Pete Zymiak (Trowbridge) 39lb 0oz; 6 Mick Gunning (Trowbridge) 38lb 8oz.
l The Devizes match fished on Sunday at Crookwood Lake saw reasonable catches.
Devizes’ Alan Bartons took top honours with a skimmers catch weighing 19lb 12oz taken on pole fished expander pellets.
Stuart White from Chippenham again framed in runner up spot with a skimmers catch weighing 14lb 11oz taken on pole fished casters. Pete Neate from Holt clinched third prize with a chub and skimmers catch weighing 13lb 11oz taken on pole fished pellets.
Other placings: 4. Duncan Smith (Chippenham) 11lb 7oz 8dm; 5. Rob Kepner (Melksham) 11lb 6oz 8dm; 6. Nigel Smith (Calne) 8lb 8oz.
