THERE was disappointment for Devizes MG in the Upper Thames Winter League as they were pipped at the post by a single point for the championship.
Devizes could only finish fourth on the day on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Little Bedwyn which gave them runner up spot in the league.

THE Trowbridge Seniors Christmas match at Leech Poolwas won Dave Baker, from Trowbridge, carried off top prize with a carp and skimmers catch weighing 35 lb.
Ernie Jones, from Trowbridge, was runner up spot 24 lb 8 oz of carp and skimmers followed by Jim Escott, from Melksham, with 18 lb 8 oz of carp and skimmers.
SUNDAY’S Calne Christmas match at Hazeland was won by Alex Hyde, from Chippenham, with 21 lb 6 oz of chub.

l SUNDAY’S Wilts Angling Christmas match on the Bristol Avon at Barton Farm and Melksham was won by Rob Kepner, from Melksham, with 16 lb 14 oz of bream.
Dean Bird, from Trowbridge, took runner up spot with 16 lb 10 oz of chub, bleak and skimmers.
