THE Devizes MG Open match fished on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Seend and Semington attracted a good entry of 54 anglers using the event as practice for the Upper Thames Winter League match, writes COLIN SCULL.
Jamie Cox, of Garbolino Blackmore Vale MG, won the event with a mixed catch of roach and skimmers weighing 12 lb 2 oz.
Other placings: 2. Andy Pollard, Daiwa Gordon League, 10 lb 15 oz; 3. Mike Bernsten, Garbolino Blackmore Vale MG, 10lb 4 oz; 4. Mike Withy Sensas Coopers Avon Nomads 8 lb 11 oz; 5. Gary Williamson Devizes MG 8 lb 5 oz; 6. John Bohane Cotswold Talisman 8 lb.
THE Tuesday Trowbridge Seniors match was won by Jim Escott from Melksham with 5 lb 8 oz of small roach, skimmers and perch.
Roger Green, from Trowbridge, was next with 2 lb 12 oz of roach and skimmers, with Barry Oakford, from Trowbridge, third with 2 lb 8 oz of roach and perch.
Other placings: 4. Ken Gingell Trowbridge & Dickie Bird Melksham 1 lb 8 oz; 6. Paul Brown Devizes 1 lb 4 oz.
THE Wilts Angling Open match at Shearwater on Sunday was won by Stuart White, from Chippenham, with 69 lb 4 oz of bream, from Pete Neate, from Holt, with 56 lb 8 oz of bream. Ian Willetts, from Bradford, was third with 53 lb of bream.
Other placings: 4 Andy Pritchard Westbury 49 lb 12 oz; 5. Vic Bush Street 48 lb; 6. Nigel Smith Calne 41 lb 8 oz.
THE Lavington Silverfish only match fished in windy conditions at Ellis Lake on Sunday was won by Jason Maslen, from Potterne, with 20 lb of roach and bream.
Graham Pearce, from West Lavington, was runner up with 19 lb of roach and bream, followed by Tony Steele, from Devizes, with 15 lb 12 oz of roach, bream and perch.
Other placings: 4. Tony McCarthy Marlborough 12 lb 4 oz; 5. Tony Weekes Market Lavington 6 lb; 6. Don Keates Hilperton 5 lb.
