TROWBRIDGE driver Dan Blake finished the season off in style at Thruxton last weekend with a win and a third place.
Qualifying saw Blake denied second place on the grid by 0.007 seconds to Matthew Plumb, as he lapped under the lap record.
Starting third, Blake got off to a fantastic start and took the lead going into Allard for the first time but finished the lap in fourth.
A high-speed duel played out over the rest of the race in one of the most exciting Coupe Cup races of the season.
Blake received a small tap on the final lap sending him across the grass but he was able to take third by the flag.
Sunday’s final round of the season then saw a similar story to the previous day. Blake made a great start again and was again challenging for the lead.
His persistence paid off in the penultimate lap as he went through and take the lead and although a washer pump which found its way into the wheel arch threatened to derail him, he hung on to claim the win and finish his season on a high.
Blake said: “The last two laps were a bit of a bravery test with the car making noises and seeing tyre smoke, but I kept my nerve and it has paid off.
“It was another great weekend and I thank my dad and Amigo Motorsport for helping me to get the win.”
