DAVE Baker, from Trowbridge, carried off top prize in the Tuesday Trowbridge Seniors match at Leech Pool, writes COLIN SCULL.

Baker reeled in 62 lb 6 oz of carp, ahead of John Blackmore, from Lavington, with 47 lb of carp and Mick O’Neil, from Melksham, with 46 lb.

Other placings: 4. Jim Escott Melksham 32 lb 8 oz; 5. Roy Songhurst Melksham 31 lb; 6. Barry Oakford Trowbridge 28 lb.

 

SUNDAY’S Wilts Angling Open match at Todber Manor was won by Steve Gardner, from Chippenham, with 77 lb 9 oz of carp.

John Candy, from Gillingham, was next with 66 lb 8 oz of carp, with Matt Skyrme, from Trowbridge, third with 44 lb 10 oz of carp.

Other placings: 4. Pete Neate Holt 43 lb 7 oz; 5. Sean Rhodes Trowbridge 42 lb 15 oz; 6. Roland Lucas Frome & Andy Pritchard Westbury 40 lb 4 oz.

 

SUNDAY’S Trowbridge match on the Bristol Avon at Staverton was won by Kevin Grant, from Trowbridge, with 9 lb 14 oz of roach.

Gerry Lugg, from Beckington, was next with 6 lb 14 oz of roach and perch and Keith Lucas, from Melksham, third with 4 lb 9 oz of roach and perch.

THE inter club match between Airsprung and Royal British Legion on Sunday on the Bristol Avon at Barton Farm saw Bill Turner, from Airsprung, take top honours with a roach and chub catch weighing 6 lb 14 oz.

Ian Brice, of British Legion, took runner up spot with 4 lb 15 oz of perch as Clive Purshouse, of British Legion, was third with a perch and roach catch weighing 4 lb 5 oz 8 dm.

Royal British Legion took team honours with a weight of 35 lb 9 oz to Airsprung’s 14 lb 2 oz.

Other placings: 4. Dave Whitehead RBL 3 lb 12 oz 8 dm; 5. John Treasurer RBL 3 lb 5 oz; 6. Steve Coles RBL 2 lb 12 oz.
