THE Trowbridge Seniors match on Tuesday at Pockeridge was won by Gordon Hayward, from Lavington, with a hefty carp and roach catch weighing 25lb 4oz, writes COLIN SCULL.
Melksham’s Brian Ellis was runner-up with a mixed carp, roach and perch catch weighing 22lb, while Paul Brown, from Devizes, took third with a carp and roach weighing 15lb.
Other placings: 4 Jim Escott 13lb 8oz, 5 Tony Brack 10lb 2oz, 6 Barry Oakford & Roger Green Trowbridge 8lb.
- TOP spot in the Wilts Angling evening match at Rood Ashton on Thursday went to Melksham's Nathaniel Johnson with a fine carp catch weighing 76lb 0oz, which was captured on pole-fished pellets.
Ian Willetts, from Bradford, took the runner-up spot with a carp catch weighing 60lb 12oz, while Melksham’s Darren Fletcher was third with a carp catch weighing 53lb 9oz.
Other placings: 4 Pete Neate 51lb, 5 Ben Ludwell 49lb 8oz, 6 Dan Blackwell 47lb.
- COMPETITORS found mixed sport in the Airsprung match fished on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Moulton Drive on Friday evening as top honours went to Dean Adams, from Bradford, with a roach and skimmers catch weighing 6lb 8oz 8dm.
Frome’s Richard Whitmarsh was second with a roach and skimmers catch weighing 5lb 9oz ahead of third-placed Mick Withy, from Westbury, with a roach and skimmers catch weighing 4lb.
Other placings: 4 Phil Eggleton 2lb 4oz, 5 Dave Morrison 2lb 1oz, 6 Bill Turner 1lb 7oz.
- VIADUCT Fishery hosted the Wilts Angling Open match on Sunday where Roland Lucas, from Frome, chalked up another win with a haul of 190lb 8oz of carp.
Bradford’s Ian Willetts took the runner-up spot with 181lb 9oz of carp, with Frome’s Steve Martin third with a carp catch weighing 142lb.
Other placings: 4 Gary O’Shea 122lb 9oz, 5 Pete Neate Holt 110lb 8oz, 6 Dave Sky 105lb 13oz.
- RICHARD Whitmarsh, from Frome, carried off top prize in the Airsprung match fished on Sunday at Rood Ashton with a carp catch weighing 131lb.
Tom Ince was second with a carp catch of 122lb 12oz and Andy Fox, also from Trowbridge, clinched third prize with 87lb 8oz of carp.
Other placing: 4. Steve Ince & Tim Martin82 lb 12 oz.
