STAVERTON racer Victor Cox finished eighth in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000cc Championship race at Donington Park.
Riding his Abpac-backed 1000cc Kawasaki – and despite being outside the top 15 during free practice – Cox went better during qualifying and started from 12th on the grid.
The Wiltshire rider made a good start in the 16-lap race and was in tenth at the end of his second lap.
Two laps later he had moved up to eighth, but had to fend off a strong challenge from Daniel Johnson and Luke Quigley.
The race was red flagged on lap 14 with Cox holding on to his position.
He will next compete on his Superstock machine in the Dutch Superbike Championship round at Assen.
