A 5-1 VICTORY for Sportzcoach Dragonz United at home to North Star B saw them close the gap on Division Three frontrunners Melksham Cosmos to six points and with two games in hand on their rivals, who they are scheduled to meet on the final day of the season, the race to become champions looks like it will go to the wire.

Sportzcoach, who beat their guests 6-1 earlier in the season, struggled to get the better of their opponents in a first half that saw the sides separated by a Dan Moore goal which gave Sportzcoach a 1-0 lead.

A second from Moore doubled the Sportzcoach lead but they were pegged back when Kosta Petrov struck his first of the season to get the Star back in the game.

Any hopes of a revival were soon ended as Ashley Barnett restored Sportzcoach two goal cushion and a double from Dean Shaw wrapped up their 5-1 success.

Pig & Whistle United 3 Crossblades FC 2

PIG & Whistle United came from 2-1 down to beat Crossblades FC 3-2 and clinch a victory that means that Richard Allen’s side should have a trouble free end to the campaign rather than their usual end-of-season battle to beat the drop.

Goals from Mike Booth and Ashley Bartels had the blades ahead at the break with Sean Meer replying for United. The second half saw United square things up through Mark Bridger and grab what proved to be the winner when Graham Griffiths made it 3-2.

Trowbridge Town Supporters Club 1 Worton & Cheverell 1

HONOURS were shared at Bratton where hosts Trowbridge Town Supporters Club had enough chances to have beaten their guests Worton & Cheverell a few times over.

But despite having the majority of the play Kevin Williams supporters’ club side had to settle for a point as Worton battled back from being a goal down at the break to claim a 1-1 draw.

Trowbridge were frustrated by Worton’s solid back four which was marshalled by a display worthy of a higher level of football from captain Danny Williams.

But he was unable to prevent Corey Overend’s goal from giving the supporters’ club their half-time advantage but despite hitting the post twice through Dean Coles and Sayed Kazemi and seeing a couple of efforts cleared on the line and what they believed to be two strong appeals for penalties turned down they were unable to add to Overend’s effort.

Declan Blandford’s goal on 80 minutes when he poked home from close range following a Worton free kick earned them their point that saw them end a four match losing run, but the result wasn’t enough to lift Chris Cole’s team out of the bottom two.
