DIVISION Two champions Lacock FC were probably expecting a much easier time than they had at home to Heytesbury who, although losing 3-2 against Joe Martin and Martin Bradfield’s side, made the hosts work extremely hard to preserve their unbeaten record for the season.
Leigh Kennedy 13th-minute goal for the visitors to Meriton Avenue was cancelled out by Stuart Tutty who headed Lacock level on 33 minutes.
A second from Kennedy when he turned in a Brendan Hind cross reclaimed the lead for Heytesbury but once again Lacock showed why they are champions as they fought back to restore parity for a second time, Darrin Moss finding the net on 64 minutes to make it 2-2.
Lacock went in front for the first time in the game on 66 minutes when Simon Gray made it 3-2 and thanks to some resolute defending Lacock who are still in the hunt for a possible quadruple held out to claim a victory ahead of their Knock Out cup semi-final against Worton & Cheverell next weekend.
