SHEPTON strengthened their promotion chances with a comfortable win at Meadow Lane in a match that they dominated from start to finish.
Such was their superiority United only mustered two attempts on goal in the entire match, both of which came late on.
Visiting striker Dave Stone didn’t find the net but he was a constant threat to Westbury and, after several early chances had gone begging, he set up the first goal for Craig Loxton on 21 minutes with a skilful run into the penalty area.
Further chances came before the break with home keeper Rob Brown saving from Stone while the same player set up Lewis Redwood who somehow put the ball wide!
The score stayed at 1-0 until half time but it was only a matter of time until the next goal and that came on 53 when Lee Davidson’s corner fell to James Billing who powered the ball into the net.
Westbury only looked a danger when running forward through Nick Taylor and Marc Lanfear. However Shepton managed to snuff out any thoughts of a route back into the game and their final goal came on 69 minutes when Stone played the ball into Joe Morgan who couldn’t miss from close range.
Substitute DJ Wheeler had his sides’ only shots in the closing stages ; firing a free kick straight at keeper Adam Garlick and then seeing a 20 yarder saved right at the end.
Westbury: Rob Brown, Ally Bradley, Ryan Elliott, Nathan Hallett-Young, David Whyte, Simon Millard, Marc Scammell, Dan Hurkett, Nick Taylor, Marc Lanfear, Kyle Box.
Substitutes: Joe Moloney, Jake Heard, DJ Wheeler (used) Craig Fisher, Luke Stanley (unused).
