BATH have reaffirmed their commitment to redeveloping the Rec despite a tribunal ruling that any new stadium must only involve land that they already use at the site.
The decision by the panel appeared to put another obstacle in the club's long-running battle to modernise their facilities at their city centre home, the rulling restricting them to using their current allocation of land, including the temporary East Stand.
Bath want to build a 16,000 capacity stadium at the Rec and a club statement today said: "Whilst the recent Charity Tribunal decision is unhelpful, we remain committed to securing the long-term future of the Rec, not only as a permanent home for Bath Rugby, but also as a real asset to the city.
"We remain focused on our proposals to provide a world-class sporting, community and cultural venue, proposals which have been overwhelmingly supported by people in and around Bath.
"We will therefore do everything possible to give the people of Bath what they want, rather than allowing the views of a small minority to prevent the realisation of a project supported by the vast majority.
"We will be proceeding with our planning application for redevelopment on our existing site and are working with The Recreation Ground Trust on next steps.''
