SUTTON Veny-trained Medicean Man has performed with such credit at the Dubai Carnival that trainer Jeremy Gask reckons he can keep marquee sprinters Shea Shea, Amber Sky and Sole Power on their toes in the Al Quoz Sprint.

The Australian is reliant upon the small margin of improvement required from top sprint handicappers to graduate into Group-class performers.

But with the eight-year-old's assured track craft, the Wiltshire-based handler has not ruled out an upset from the buoyant Medicean Man, who won twice at Meydan at February but was well beaten by Shea Shea in this race last year.

He said: "From his second win we backed up quickly into the race on Super Saturday, but I'm pleased to report he's come out of it pretty well.

"It was a bit of a risk, but he handles the Tapeta well, even though he doesn't do much work on it.

"He's a funny old horse - he's either really fresh and well or too laid-back.

"He hacks around, but when he works we gallop him. He's a lovely horse to train and he recovers well from his races.

"Ideally, I would like him to make his run on the outside, although I suspect Shea Shea will be trying to do the same.

"He was stuck in no man's land in this last year, we just need him to mix it with Shea Shea, Amber Sky and Sole Power."
