AFTER missing out on a place in the Wiltshire Junior Cup final following their 5-0 loss to Fratello’s last weekend, third division White Horse were looking to gain some consolation by setting up a meeting with local rivals Westbury United Reserves in the final of this season's Briken Motors & AM Print & Copy sponsored A&B Cup final.
But the Westbury based side they faced a mammoth task as standing in their way were second division champions Lacock FC who are aiming for an unprecedented quadruple.
They kept their hopes of yet more silverware alive thanks to a 4-2 victory.
An evenly-matched opening 45 minutes saw White Horse break the deadlock on 43 minutes with Marek Miszta putting them in front.
However they saw their advantage disappear on the stroke of half time as Craig Burge volleyed Lacock level.
Lacock took the lead on 50 minutes, Jake Marshall firing into the bottom left hand corner from 20 yards out. White Horse may have had their backs to the wall but they responded well and drew level on 65 minutes thanks to a second of the afternoon form Miszta.
With both team starting to up the tempo it was Lacock who got their noses in front again with Darrin Moss putting them 3-2 in the 70th minute up thanks to a deflected effort from 16 yards out.
With White Horse chasing an equaliser to take the game to extra time they were caught on the break when long ball out from Lacock picked out the advancing Simon Gray who prodded the ball home to hand Lacock their place in the first of three possible finals.
