TROWBRIDGE will travel to Guildford for their RFU Intermediate Cup semi final on Easter Saturday after the Surrey side's victory in the London/South East competition at the weekend.

Guildford defeated Ealing's Old Priorians 28-15 on Saturday to set up the national semi final against Steve Ojomoh's men on Saturday, April 19.

The draw for home advantage in the last-four clash was made last week with the London/South East representative earning the right to host the tie.

The winners will play Northern Division winners Aspatria or Midlands winners Leek in the final at Twickenham in May.

Guildford are currently on course to win the London Two South West title, while Trowbridge maintained their pursuit of Southern Counties South leaders Wells with a 66-7 mauling of Wimborne on Saturday.

Trowbridge put in one of their best performances of the season so far, with a hat-trick of tries from Jackson Szabo and a brace apiece for player-coach Dan Smith and Ashley Chalk.

Szabo opened the scoring in the first quarter by rounding the Wimborne defence to score out wide, Lloyd Davis narrowly missing the conversion.

The next score came quickly from an interception by Joe Knight, running in to score under the posts from inside his own half, Davis this time adding the extra two points.

Shane Johnstone was next to score crashing through the defence, Davis adding the extras, before Szabo’s second and possibly his best try of the three as he side-stepped his way at pace through the defence, Davis making no mistake with the conversion.

Ashley Chalk finished off some good interplay between forwards and backs, Davis adding the conversion and to end a good first-half performance, Smith got the first of his two tries , Davis' conversion making it 40-0 at the break.

Not giving up Wimborne started the second half at pace, but Chalk was next to score with his second try.

Smith's second and Davis conversion followed before Wimborne responded with a score through Ollie Hamer and a successful conversion from Tom Moysey.

The home side responded, going on the attack and sending Szabo in for his third try under the posts, with Davis again adding the extras.

The best was saved until last, as Trowbridge forwards and backs combined in a move that saw Barry Coombs score what had to be the try of the game, Davis adding the extras.

Trowbridge could make certain of a play off place next weekend when they host Dorchester at Doric Park on Saturday. If they win they cannot be caught by Wimborne after their demolition of the Dorset team by 66-7 on Saturday, or Swanage and Wareham, and if unbeaten league leaders Wells win at Sherborne on Friday night, Trowbridge will be out of sight of Sherborne as well.

The winners will play Northern Division winners Aspatria or Midlands winners Leek in the final at Twickenham on May 4th.

Victory over struggling Dorchester at Doric Park next weekend, coupled with a Wells triumph against Sherborne on Friday night would seal a promotion play-off place for Ojomoh's men.
