THE only match from the S.K. Fruits Ltd Chippenham & District League Premier Division saw AFC Melksham and Semington Rovers meet for a second time this term.

Melksham, who won the previous encounter 9-4, emerged victorious for a second by taking maximum points thanks to a 5-2 win.

After weeks of rain the sun made a welcomed appearance for this end of season dead rubber that saw Semington defend well for the opening 20 minutes and it took a fine volley from Tom Robinson to break the deadlock and give Melksham the lead.

Matt Sharpe added a second for Melksham on 33 minutes to give Mike Rogers side some breathing space at the break.

The second half started with Melksham adding a third, Josh Robinson’s low drive making it 3-0.

Semington pulled a goal back when Matty Russell quickly taken free kick caught stand-in keeper Chris Dore off guard. Within minutes Matt Sharpe powered home a pinpoint cross from Brett Partner to restore Melksham's three-goal advantage.

Semington’s response was immediate with a second from Matt Russell catching replacement keeper Keiron Mills napping as he sent his effort from the half way line into the back of the net.

Melksham finally put the game to bed, Luke Turvey burst through the tiring home defence to set up Matt Sharpe who scored his third and Melksham’s fifth of the game.
