WEST Wilts claimed a 1-1 draw with Bridgend in the Davis Wood League Conference North clash on Saturday.
The visitors were buoyed by the return of Matt Elloway for the trip, but they fell behind 10 minutes into the first half.
Wilts responded when Dave King slipped a ‘no look’, 90 degree pass from the base line to James Baker, who finished into the bottom corner.
Wilts spent the rest of the half pushing on but were unable to take the lead.
The second half was a disappointment, but Wilts had an escape when a penalty flick was awarded against Jonny Hackett in the final play of the game.
But Wilts keeper Finn Walton stood firm to slap away the flick and preserve a point for the Warminster side.
l WEST Wilts Ladies slipped to a 2-1 defeat in their West Clubs League East Division clash against Frome at Kingdown School.
The home side began strongly and their efforts were rewarded when Niki Stranks finished off a short corner.
Frome came back, earning a penalty flick that was scored to equalise.
Frome were the more determined side in the second half, making the Wilts defence work hard.
The home team had breakaway chances but despite Wilts’ player of the match Sarah Gibson’s performance on the left wing, it was the visitors that made the breakthrough to seal the points.
