AFTER moving back to the top of the Division Three last weekend, Ben Hogg’s table-topping Holt side made the most of their closest rivals cup commitments as an 11-1 victory at second from bottom The Stiffs allowed the villagers to open up five-point lead over United FC, who were in A&B Cup action and a seven point gap on White Horse, who missed out on a league match due to their Wilts Junior Cup involement.

The Stiffs were the better team in the first half of what appears to be a very one-sided game, Darren Brewer giving them the lead before Holt levelled against the run of play from the penalty spot.

Stiffs then lost Ade Giles through injury at half time and Holt took the lead early in the second half.

Stiffs then lost their compsoure and conceded three quick goals, also losing Simeon Player and goal keeper Chris Giles through injury finishing the game with 10 players.

Stand-in keeper Jason Harvey conceded five in the final 20 minutes and even scored an own goal however a Holt player have put his name to an effort that was cleary going wide before Harvey helped it into his own net.

Fynn McCarthy-Driver who levelled from the penalty spot in the first half scored a hat trick as did both Matt Woodhead and Jamie Parlour and a goal each for Adam Potter and Ryan Gibbons made up Holt’s 11.

Marshfield FC 2 The Lamb Reserves 1

HAVING been on the verge of calling it a day on more than one occasion this season, Adam Stevens will have been proud with the way his Lamb Reserves side have responded in recent weeks.

Three victories from five games has seen them move from the bottom of the form table to sixth place and a trip to Marshfield, who had beaten them 5-1 on the opening day of the season, gave them the chance to see how much they have improved.

Although they lost 2-1 Stevens can again be proud of his team's performance.

Paul Hardiman scored on eight minutes to put Marshfield in front. Mark Billett restored parity for the Lamb but George Ball’s goal on 44 minutes proved to be the winner for Marshfield.
