AFTER suffering their first loss of the season in the league a fortnight ago, Trowbridge Windows & Conservatories Trowbridge & District League leaders North Bradley, who were beaten by Semington Magpies, were looking to send out a message to their fellow title contenders that their 2-1 loss was just a blip.
Chris Carr’s side were looking to get back to winning ways when they hosted a Castle Combe side who had lost the reverse fixture 4-1 - but instead of opening up a seven-point gap over the chasing pack, Bradley remain just four points clear as Paul Sanderson's Combe side heaped more misery on Bradley by taking victory thanks to a 4-3 win.
Jake Dawson saw his opener for Combe cancelled out by a Reuben Spong effort but Combe got themselves in front for a second time thanks a first goal for the club from Raymi Saca and they extended their lead to 3-1 courtesy of a Quinnan Tarawai effort.
Combe added a fourth through Ben Pemberton, but even though the visitors to Leighton Sports Centre were 4-1 up and seemingly in charge of things the points were not yet in the bag as Bradley mounted a fightback.
Scott Askew reduced the arrears and then Dean Ranger headed home with five minutes to set up a grandstand finish where Bradley went close to scoring a fourth but Joe Kirkpatrick saw his effort fail to find the net.
The win for Combe has eased their own relegation fears, defeat for Bradley has left a doubt over their title hopes, but with Trowbridge Wanderers next up they should get back on the right track.
