TROWBRIDGE moved into second place in Southern Counties South by taking the points in this hard-fought battle at Dorchester’s Coburg Road ground.

Trowbridge scored on their first visit into Dorchester’s territory, putting Adam Sullivan in under the posts after only three minutes.

They followed up with try from winger Lewis Jordan, leaving Lloyd Davis an easy conversion to go into a 12-point lead after the first quarter.

But the visitors did not have it all their own way as Dorchester threw everything into attacking the Trowbridge line for a long period, testing their defence.

In doing so however, they left themselves exposed out wide and once Trowbridge won possession they exploited the overlap, sending James McFarlane in under the posts, Davis adding the extras.

Dorchester’s Callum King converted a penalty as Trowbridge ended the first half 19-3 ahead.

Dorchester started the second half at pace, putting the visitors under pressure and forcing mistakes which resulted in an intercepted pass and a try for King, plus conversion by Jamie Morgan.

Another King penalty closed the gap further and when he crossed for his second, unconverted, try, Trowbridge were only a point ahead.

Trowbridge though fought back, taking the game deep into Dorchester’s half and demonstrating their new-found confidence.

They closed closed the game out with two unconverted tries, one from prop Sam Edwards and another on the final whistle from McFarlane.
