CHRIS Carr’s Trowbridge Windows & Conservatories Trowbridge & District League Division One, table-topping North Bradley were given an almighty scare by Semington Magpies.

Unlike the first meeting of the sides when Bradley scored late goals to claim their 4-2 win it was Ricky King’s Magpies side who tore up the formbook with two late goals earning them a 2-1 win to inflict Bradley with their first lost in nine games.

Bradley, who on Friday night had 15 players at their disposal, were let down by a few players with Ali Bradley failing to turn up, Reuben Spong missing due to work commitments and top scorer Scott Askew opting to play for Westbury United.

After a goalless first 45 minutes Bradley must have thought that they were set for win number 9 of the season when Tim Coombes followed up a Jason Povey shot to give them the lead.

Bradley should have made it 2-0 just a few minutes later when Povey delivered the perfect cross to Carl Davies at the back post but he missed a sitter from six yards out.

Semington never gave up and they fashioned an equaliser on 75 minutes, Dan Rimmer scoring from a Jon McChesney cross.

With seven minutes remaining Dan Rimmer fired in a brilliant strike from the corner of the 18 yard area to wrap up a famous win for Magpies.

Calne Eagles 0 Bradford United 7

BRADFORD United claimed their fourth league victory of the season with a commanding 7-0 win over Calne Eagles.

Bradford had the best possible start after only two minutes when striker Phil Little headed home a Theo Sing corner at the near post.

Despite losing an early goal, Calne competed well in the first half and looked well capable of getting back on level terms.

However, right on the stroke of half time Bradford doubled the lead thanks to a 25 yard screamer from midfielder Mitchel Hamber.

After scoring early in the first half, Phil Little repeated the trick in the second half when he reacted quickest to tap in from five yards following a Rich Bliha free kick. After this goal Calne faded away badly as Bradford went on to dominate the remainder game.

Mitchel Hamber scored his second after only 55 minutes when his volley that went in off the post made the score 4-0.

In the remainder of the game Tom Bouquet got on the end of an excellent team move for goal number five and Rich Bliha who jinxed his way passed three players before firing in number six.

In final moments, livewire striker Theo Sing completed the 7-0 scoreline with a well taken goal to cap an impressive performance from the away side.

Steeple Ashton 1 Warminster Town Reserves 3

WITH Warminster Town Reserves unable to use their Weymouth Street ground, a hastily rearranged fixture saw them travel to a Steeple Ashton side who they fought out a rare goalless draw with just over a month ago.

Unlike the first meeting, where goals were scarce, the return fixture produced four of them with Warminster unable to believe that they survived an onslaught from their hosts to run out 3-1 victors.

Ashton peppered the Warminster goal in the first half and should have been four up before the visitors to St Mary’s opened the scoring through Luke McGulkian.

Ashton continued to be wasteful in front of goal as they searched for an equaliser with three headed efforts from close range somehow missing the target when it looked easier to score.

After the break Ashton finally hit the target with Guy Rowley netting to square things up on 52 minutes.

Warminster regained the lead in the 58th minute when Steve Perkins scrambled the ball over the line and a minute later Scott Jones had put Andy McFarren’s team 3-1 up.

The Lamb FC 2 Westbury United Reserves 6

TONY Stevens' Lamb FC side were originally due to play Warminster Town Reserves and after losing to Bradford United Reserves in the Knockout Cup the previous week it would have been a fixture they would have seen as getting them back on track.

However a change of fixtures saw them paired at home with title chasing Westbury United Reserves who kept their own title hopes alive courtesy of a fine 6-2 victory while almost certainly ending their hosts hopes of finishing top of the pile in their first season in the division.

Scott Walford and a double from Marc Lanfear helped Westbury take a 3-1 half-time lead with Lamb’s reply coming from Tom Blackman.

After the break it was a repeat of the first half score line with Westbury adding a further three goals.

Lanfear, who is having a great season in front of goal, added another to that took his personal tally for the game to four and for the campaign to date to 15. Ashley Easton’s single made up Westbury’s half dozen.

Craig Sheppard scored the Lamb’s second consolation.

Trowbridge Wanderers 1 Freshford United 8

BOTTOM-OF-THE-TABLE Trowbridge Wanderers must have felt like David lining up to face their Goliath in Freshford United as Paul Doddington’s side, who have not won since the opening day of the season, went into the game looking to end a nine-match winless run.

Things didn't improve for the hosts who were handsomely beaten 8-1 by Chris Birleson's side, who had the points wrapped up inside the opening 25 minutes.

Goals from Tom Rooney and Nick Gerrish put Freshford two up with just 10 minutes played, a seven minute hat trick from top scorer Steve Roddy which was completed after Jamie Kinchly had netted Wanderers consolation made it 5-1.

By half time Freshford had extended the score to 7-1 thanks to a double from Mark Gerrish.

Trowbridge Wanderers made more of a fight of things in the second half and kept the score down as they restricted their guests to a single second-half effort which saw Rooney, who had started the rout, finished things with his second and Freshford's eighth of the game.
