BATH'S first win at Adams Park for five years took them up to third place in the Premiership table and head coach Mike Ford was delighted with his side's showing.

Bath extended their winning run to seven matches in all competitions with a convincing 28-5 victory over a Wasps side who had won their previous two Aviva Premiership matches.

Semesa Rokoduguni scored Bath's opening two tries, Matt Garvey added a third with the rest of their points coming from the boots of George Ford and Tom Heathcote.

"We played well away from home - a very clinical, professional performance," said Ford, whose only regret was not getting the winning bonus point.

"We're pretty disappointed we never got four tries in the end," he added.

Ford handed credit for the powerful pack performance to the forwards coaching duo of Neal Hatley and Toby Booth, who joined Bath from London Irish.

"They boys are maturing and the work Neal and Toby have done with the forwards has been sensational this year," he said.

"You saw today the dominance at scrum and lineout time. There's not many teams this year have got the better of us in the tight forward play.

"The amount of detail and the way they train the boys - and the way the boys play for each other - is a credit to them. They have done a fantastic job."

Ford also paid tribute to centre Ollie Devoto, who is currently keeping England international Kyle Eastmond out of the side.

"I thought he was absolutely outstanding," said Ford. "The way he hit the lines and defended was very good.

"He played really well against Exeter in the LV so he's kept his shirt and it will be tough to get it off him after today."

Director of rugby Dai Young branded Wasps' display "unacceptable" and apologised to supporters after seeing his forwards take a brutal beating from Bath's powerful pack.

Wasps scored a late try through right wing Jonah Holmes but it was nothing more than a consolation in a display that left Young far from impressed.

Young said: "Bath really didn't have to fight too hard for it, that's the disappointing factor.

"It was pretty much an unacceptable performance. We lacked quality in everything we did today.

"Our front row came off second best and really struggled and when we had the ball we never went past four phases so we ended up defending for long periods.

"We were really flat. We lacked enthusiasm and excitement today. When we did have the ball, we didn't build any momentum or pressure. We never stretched them."

Young added: "We owe our fans an apology because we let them down.

"Our forwards have done well all season and the scrum has been on top in most of our games but when that didn't work we struggled for any penetration or spark - or anything really. We were second best by a margin."

Young is hoping to have England squad winger Christian Wade back for Saturday's visit to London Irish following a hamstring injury which denied him an England start in the autumn internationals.
