A WEEK after their brilliant 4-0 win over Division One leaders Bromham, Spike Chandler’s Somerford side could find themselves top of the table come Sunday afternoon, should they beat basement side Chippenham West End and other results were to go their way.

It would be fair to say that the villagers were not among the teams tipped for success this term, but the dark horses have lost just once in seven and should take maximum points from a team who have not won in eight.

After suffering defeat at Somerford, Danny Powell’s table-topping Bromham could suffer another setback to their promotion hopes this Sunday with fellow top two challengers Staverton visiting their New Road ground.

Corsham CC Wildcats hit basement side Chippenham West End for 12 last weekend, but Scott Fleming’s side will face much tougher opponents in Kings Arms (All Cannings) at their Yatton Road ground this Sunday.

Kings Arms, who won the reverse fixture 6-2, will have to work for anything their get from the return clash as the Wildcats have come into some good form.

Goatacre CC FC were at their best a week ago when they defeated Prestige Bodyworks 5-1 and manager Sam Parish will be hoping that his team didn’t peak too early.

Next up for the cricketers are local rivals North Star A, who will feel they owe their hosts one after they lost the reverse clash last month 5-2.

If Goatacre are to keep up their promotion challenge this is a game they should win.

Fresh from their first defeat of the season, Prestige Bodyworks will hope that their defeat to Goatacre was just a blip in their quest to reach the top flight.

Prestige welcome an ever-improving White Horse A side to Stanley Park and if Clive Black side have Dale Rowland back from injury to link up with strike partner Chris Stiles they could return to Westbury with at least a draw.
