TROWBRIDGE took a step closer to getting their hands on some silverware this season with a convincing victory in the Dorset & Wilts 1st XV Cup semi final in Dorset.

From the start the visiting pack took control and after just five minutes they pushed the home forwards back over their own line for Dave Martin to touch down.

Lloyd Davis added the conversion and play then went from end to end until Charlie Parish kicked his first penalty to get the home side on the scoreboard.

Davis matched him with a penalty for the visitors followed by another successful kick within 10 minutes to increase the lead.

Ashley Chalk rounded off the first half with an unconverted try to leave Trowbridge 18-3 ahead.

Swanage started the second half at pace with a convincing try from wing Jack Moriarty.

The conversion was missed but Parish converted another penalty to bring the home side back into the game.

Trowbridge’s pack again took control, sending in Matt Howard for the next score.

Joe Knight intercepted to run in a try from 60 metres and a conversion from Tom Weaver put the win beyond doubt.

The try of the game came from prop Sam Edwards galloping in from 25 metres to score under the posts, Weaver adding the extras with the final score of the match.
