IN-form Trowbridge runner Will Stockley continued his unbeaten start to the Gwent Cross Country League on Sunday.
The 14-year-old Melksham Oak Community School student made it two wins out of two at Bridgend as he fought off a spirited challenge from Team Bath clubmate Themis Bower before moving clear.
“It was nice to win again and I felt quite comfortable,” said Stockley.
“I would have probably gone faster but I fell at one point but other than that it was a good run and I am pleased.”
Rory Howorth was the best-placed Wiltshire runner in the south west regional finals of the English Schools’ Cross Country Cup at Leweston School, Sherborne.
Representing St Augustine’s Catholic College, Trowbridge , the 11-year-old from Hilperton finished runner-up to Finn Birnie, of Truro School, in the junior boys’ race.
Jonah Veakins also made the top 10 in eighth but the rest of the squad finished outside the top 40 so St Augustine’s had to settle for seventh in the team contest and with only the top three progressing failed to make the national finals.
The inter boys’ squad of twins Robert and John Howorth, Henry Dixon and Joshua Brennan missed out on the finals as they came fifth.
