FORGET Robin van Persie, Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero – English football’s deadliest striker is currently spearheading Bradford Town’s assault on the Toolstation League First Division title.

Sam Jordan has scored more goals than anyone else playing at step six of the National League System or higher, with the 24-year-old firing home his eighth hat-trick of the season last weekend as he took his tally for the season so far to a whopping 41 goals.

Jordan, who has failed to find the net in just one of his 21 appearances this season, has had interest from suitors looking to prise him away from his home-town club.

But the striker plans to stay at Trowbridge Road to help secure his team’s promotion to the top tier of the Toolstation League.

“The season’s been great so far and I never expected to get so many goals already,’’ said Jordan, who was also the top scorer in the Chippenham & District Sunday League last season with a monster haul of 91 goals.

“A lot of strikers aim to try and get 30 goals but I’m looking to try and see if I can get 70.”

“I’ve been at Bradford for four or five seasons and I’ve always struggled because of injuries and work commitments but I’ve not missed a game this year.

“I’ve scored a lot of goals on Sundays before but it’s nice to do it on Saturdays for once.

“We’ve got a really strong team this year and the players that have come in have improved us a lot. They create a lot of chances and I’m lucky enough to get the chance to finish them.

“I have had managers from other teams try to talk to me but I’ve told them that I want to stay with Bradford until the end of the season and get us promoted.”

Bradford Town manager Paul Shanley said: “The team have been performing well and they keep setting Sammy up to get his goals.

“He’s a superb finisher and we’re lucky to have him to stick it in the back of the net.

“He’s committed to staying at Bradford and that’s great for us.”
