MELKSHAM just got the better of their local rivals in Saturday’s Dorset & Wilts One North derby.
With both sides playing some good rugby, it was the home side that took the lead when, within the first five minutes, winger Simon Ellinger showed his pace, Rob Bailey adding teh conversion.
Bradford struck back almost immediately as Joe Awdry went over for their opening try, converted by Dan Bright.
The first half continued with both sides attacking and defending forcefully, but with Melksham conceding too many penalties to gain any advantage there was no further score before the break.
Bradford started the second half with intent and good passing and strong ball-carrying produced a reward with another converted try, Nick Abbott going over and Bright adding the extras.
Melksham fought back producing some aggressive runs, yielding a penalty that Bailey converted.
The momentum saw Melksham forwards putting pressure on the visitors, Scott Davis going in for a try to take his side into a winning lead.
