STEVE Surry has twin targets heading into the final round of the Nedbank Affinity Cup in South Africa tomorrow.
Cumberwell Park touring pro Surry, who shot an eight-under-par 64 to co-lead the event at the Lost City Golf Club yesterday, added a second-round 70 to lie one off the pace in the 54-hole tournament.
The 31 year old from Trowbridge could pocket around £6,000 by claiming victory, while a top-five finish would earn him a place in the prestigious South African Open Championship later this month.
“I’m a regular Sunshine Tour member, so a top-five would get me into the SA Open. That would be abrilliant result from this week, no matter what else happens,” he said today.
“It was a decent day and I’m happy with 70. If you have a low one then it’s hard to have another low one the following day for some unknown mental reason.
Home player Jacques Blaauw heads into tomorrow’s final round with a one-stroke lead, seeking his third victory on the Sunshine Tour this year.
