WEST Wilts are third in the Davis Wood League Conference North after earning a 4-4 draw at Leominster on Saturday.

A high-tempo start saw poor Wilts defending allow the home side to take the lead.

The visitors struck back with a well-worked goal from Callum Wolff, but Leominster restored their advantage.

Good passing from Shahair Aissaoui saw him combine with Mark Brothers, who set up an easy tap-in to level again.

More suspect defending allowed Leominster the lead for a third time from a short corner.

West Wilts won a penalty stroke when the ball was stopped on the line by a foot from a short corner and James Baker sneaked the ball past the keeper.

The home side took the lead for a fourth time via a well-taken drag flick, but Wolff’s second ensured the away side a share of the spoils.

  • WEST Wilts Ladies maintained their excellent start in the West Clubs League East Division by making it four wins out of four in Dorset.

The Warminster side defeated winless Wimborne Wayfarers 4-1 to continue to lead the league standings.

A scoreless first half saw the hosts play the more controlled hockey, but Wilts rediscovered themselves in the second period and took the lead when Olivia Evans netted from a short corner.

Sarah Gibson made it 2-0 shortly after from another short corner and West Wilts continued to move the ball well, Fiona Pridham slipping the ball to Evans, who scored the third.

Wimborne replied, but with good performances from Helen Oldrieve and Suzanne Powell, Evans secured the win with her hat-trick strike after Pridham made use of an interception.

West Wilts Ladies 2nd are still searching for their first win in Wessex One after a 1-0 reverse at home to Devizes.

The third team were beaten 5-2 by Devizes 2 in Wessex Two.
