AN IMPRESSIVE defensive performance in the quarter final of Dorset & Wilts Intermediate Cup saw Trowbridge through to the semi finals of the Dorset & Wilts 1st XV Cup.
For a low scoring encounter the opening exchanges were particular good with both sets of backs getting plenty of ball.
The Trowbridge pack started to have the edge at the set piece and their dominance at scrum time began to pay off as the Dorchester pack found itself on the back foot.
Dorchester opened the scoring through a successful penalty from full back Jamie Morgan, But it was not long before Trowbridge responded with a well-worked try through the forwards, with prop Karl Parry diving over the line and Lloyd Davis adding the conversion to end the first half 7-3 ahead.
The second half saw Trowbridge pile on the pressure, spending a long time camped on the Dorchester line until eventually setting up a try for number eight Shane Johnstone with Davis adding the extras.
The home side now were in total control and veteran second row Mark Durant found himself with ball in hand and a clear run through to the line for the third try.
