THE Division Three relegation clash at Leafy Lane between FC North Wiltshire and Christian Malford saw the points shared as they teams produced a stalemate that saw North Wilts come from 2-1 down at the break to earn a 2-2.

A first goal for Malford from Kevin Long saw the villagers draw level and although James Whitehead saved a Scott Evans penalty Stephen Lynch was on hand to turn the ball home to give Malford a half-time lead.

After the break both sides huffed and puffed as they looked to add to their first half goals and it was North Wilts who scored the all important next goal with Dan Spencer finding the net to earn his team a share of the spoils from a thrilling encounter.

Melksham Cosmos 2 Crossblades FC 1

MELKSHAM Cosmos may have maintained their 100 per cent start to the season, however their 2-1 win over Crossblades saw them fight a lot harder for the points than they would have thought they would have had to.

With Cosmos pitch at the Conigre unavailable the game was switched to Goatacre and although the hosts had not beaten the Blades in any of their previous three meetings current form suggested that things were about to change and so it was to be.

Marc Bowden’s penalty for Cosmos separated the teams at half time.

Crossblades got themselves on level terms early in the second half with Mike Booth scoring to make it one apiece.

Cosmos with their new-found belief this term dug deep and regained the lead courtesy of Phil Carter and although Crossblades hunted for an equaliser the home team held out to claim a sixth successive win.

Old Road FC 3 Worton & Cheverell (Sunday) 3

OLD Road may have ended their losing run at the hands of Worton & Cheverell (Sunday) and they will be happy with their point from a thrilling 3-3 draw.

However, manager Andy Rose will have mixed feeling about the results as his side led 2-0 at half time and had it not been for a penalty save from keeper Matt McCourtney his team may well have left Langley Burrell empty-handed.

After 20 minutes of play Worton were down to 10 men with Danny Williams seeing red and down by two goals before a change of formation slowed down what could have been a high-scoring first half in favour of the Old Road who only had goals from Jay Watkins and Dan Stevens to show for their dominance.

A half time chat saw Worton come out for the second half quicker with more appetite for the game and pushing Old Road on every part of the pitch and they pulled a goal back when corner came to Dan Alsop who, with his back to goal and on the edge of the 18 yard box, turned and chipped the keeper for his first goal for Worton.

This was followed quickly a second for Worton as the squared things up, Ben Tylee volleying home from the edge of the are to bring things equal.

Old Road were stunned but not out of the woods and came back strongly to go ahead, Andy Rose beating the offside trap and cutting in from the right side beat a defender and took his chance well to give his team the lead once more.

However Worton were not beaten and challenged again with both Jake Flower and Kyle Davies being constant thorns for the hosts' defence.

Flower had a penalty saved by keeper McCourtney and with that miss it looked as if Worton’s chance had gone but in the final minute Davies beat two defenders and charged into the box fired wide past the keeper to the right side of goal to leave what was a high tempo and at times highly charged game with the points shared.

Sportzcoach Dragonz United 10 Pig & Whistle United 2

THE match at Stanley Park featuring Melksham-based rivals Sportzcoach Dragonz United and Pig & Whistle United never lived up its pre-match expectations, Sportzcoach winning 10-2 to take their winning run to four matches.

Sportzcoach led 5-1 at half time thanks to goals from Mark Bowsher, Dan Moore, Dean Shaw, Liam Richards and Shaun Heathcote who saw his opener cancelled out by Paul Matthews.

The second half was almost a mirror image of the first 45 minutes, Ashley Barnett added number six for Sportzcoach, Dan Moore scored two more to complete his hat-trick and both Dean Shaw and Barnett netted their second of the game to make up the 10.

Sean Meer scored a second for Pig & Whistle when the score was 9-1.

Trowbridge Town Supporters Club 6 Wren FC 4

THREE goals in each half helped Trowbridge Town Supporters Club to a 6-4 win at home to a battling Wren FC side, who played their part in an end to and thriller.

Matt Fenn may have put the Wren one up when volleyed home in off the post after a cheeky chip from Ben Buckley but his effort was cancelled out by Dave Strickland and two goals from Dean Coles put the supporters’ club 3-1.

Wren were given hope of a second-half comeback when Dan Brown’s shot hit the post and fell to Buckley who finished low beyond the keeper and defender.

Wren took advantage of their first half lifeline and when a corner was chested down by Alfie Bain he kneed it home from about a yard out Wren were back on level terms.

A penalty from Matt Gittins restored the lead for the hosts and when Dean Coles completed his hat-trick with a stunning 25 yarder the points look to have been won.

One final surge from Wren saw Matt Fenn head home a Adam Moody free kick to get his team within touching distance of the supporters’ club any hopes of a late fight back were soon extinguished as a first-ever goal for the club for Sayeed Kazemi sealed victory for Kevin Williams' side.
