CORSHAM CC Wildcats went into their game at Division One leaders Bromham (Sunday) bottom of the table but with an impressive record against their opponents, who had never beaten them in a league match.

A Wildcats side who had been misfiring in front of goal all season turned the formbook on its head as an impressive showing saw them thump their hosts 10-0 to maintain the hoodoo their have over the New Road club.

Adam Mitchell, who has been the main culprit when it comes to missing chances for the Wildcats, finally found his scoring boots, Mitchell scored a first-half five-timer, three of which came from his head.

Leigh Rogers also headed home in the first half to give his team a 6-0 lead at the break.

Adam Mitchell completed his double hat-trick early in the second period and a second from Rogers made it 8-0 before Mitchell completed his morning’s work with his seventh and the Wildcats ninth of the game.

Mitchell was then replaced by Joe King and the goal dried up that was until King completed the scoring with the tenth of what was in the end a one-sided game for the bottom side and not the leaders as many had expected it too be.

Kings Arms (All Cannings) 4 Chippenham West End 2

KINGS Arms (All Cannings) picked up three valuable points thanks to a 4-2 home success over Chippenham West End whose defeat sees them slip to the bottom of the table.

Kings Arms got of to the perfect start when an excellent pass picked out Mohamed Saadi who fired home his first goal for the club.

West End got themselves back on level terms with David Byatt equalising after he latched onto a pinpoint through ball from Paul Mannings.

Kings Arms reclaimed the lead prior to half time when Matt Payne put through his own net to give the villagers the advantage at the interval.

After the break a controversial penalty saw Kings Arms extend the lead. Myles Hickton went down in the area and with a spot kick awarded Simon Drewitt made no mistake from 12 yards as he made it 3-1.

Kings Arms sealed their victory when Myles Hickton scored direct from a corner and although David Byatt managed a late consolation for West End it was a case of too little, too late.

North Star A 2 Goatacre CC FC 5

JUST a few weeks after their match was abandoned following an injury to referee Julian Sattin, local rivals North Star A and Goatacre CC FC met again and despite falling behind twice in the game Goatacre responded well as they came from behind to claim a 5-2 victory.

Jack Taylor who usually plays for the Star’s second string was an instant success for Liam Westland’s side as he gave his team a 1-0 interval lead.

Ed Wilkins got Goatacre back on level terms only for a second from Taylor to hand the lead back to North Star.

A second from Wilkins saw parity restored and after that Goatacre took the game by the scruff of the neck and went in front thanks to a third Wilkins goal.

A Darren Holcombe penalty stretched Goatacre’s advantage even further and when Wilkins netted his fourth of the morning, victory and three points were secured

Somerford FC 0 White Horse FC 5

WHITE Horse (Sunday) A had a day to forget at old adversaries Somerford.

Clive Black’s White Horse may have beaten their hosts in their final two games of last season to clinch the runners-up spot in Division Two but his team missing many key players were put in their place by Spike Chandler’s side who claimed a 5-0 win.

Chris Yeo, Zach Preston with his first goal for the club and Matt Spear gave the villagers a 3-0 interval lead and further goals from Yeo and Spear in the second half put the icing on a fine all-round team performance.

Staverton 3 Prestige Bodyworks 3

AS EXPECTED, the match at Atworth between second placed Staverton and third placed Prestige Bodyworks lived up to pre-match expectations.

With both teams going into the game unbeaten it was little surprise that the points ended up being shared after a nail biting 3-3 draw.

Stuart Field gave Prestige the lead which was cancelled out by Olly Bramell. Staverton then got their noses in front via a stunning 25-yard strike from Jason Povey who drove home with his weaker right foot.

The second period was as exciting as the first and it didn’t take Prestige long to get themselves on level terms, Dave Nolan finding the net for 2-2.

Adam O’Keeffe swung the game back in favour of Prestige but the topsy turvey game was finished as Staverton won a penalty and Levi Wood held his nerve to score from 12 yards and earn Aaron Latchem’s side a share of the points.
